About Me

Brianna K. Edwards, MS, LMHC, RPT

Hi there, mom, dad, grandparent, weary caregiver...

If you are reading this, chances are you have a child or teenager in need of counseling.

Maybe you feel worn out, jaded by parenting challenges you never anticipated.

You may feel like you’ve tried everything, but are still in desperate need of help.

Or perhaps your precious child was exposed to hurts and pains you were not there to control.

If you can relate, please know you are seen, and I am so glad you're here.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Registered Play Therapist (RPT), and TBRI® Practitioner (Trust-Based Relational Intervention®) specializing with children and teens (ages 3-18) who have a history of complex trauma, attachment-related issues, and/or dissociative symptoms. This includes the "BIG" traumas that people often think of, like physical, sexual, or emotional abuse, severe neglect, adoption, accidents, losses, etc...but there are also little "t" traumas, like bullying or divorce, and attachment wounding from unmet needs during childhood, that can be just as impactful on a child's development. I have been exclusively working with this population for over 5 years.

Because kids' brains are still growing, their ability to process experiences with words is limited - that's why play therapy is best! Play is a child's language. Everyday I witness profound processing through toys, play, art, games, and other expressive/experiential modalities. My goal is to provide a safe, fun, warm, and non-judgmental space for your kiddo to feel, heal, learn, and grow. And I must say, I LOVE what I do!

My therapy approach is grounded in an understanding that trauma impacts our body, brain, and nervous system, and that everyone has attachment needs. I use three amazing models along with play therapy: TBRI®, Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT), and EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).

Working with parents has become a large part of my practice. I partner with parents for parenting sessions and teach 8-week parent groups to help you feel more confident connecting with your child, as well as setting healthy limits, boundaries and consequences. (If this is a frustration for you, you are not alone!) I also have a heart for new mamas going through the postpartum period and adjusting to parenthood.

I love teaching groups - big and small. I've led workshops for children's ministry conferences, churches, and organizations, as well as guest-lectured at universities. In 2018 & 2019, I had the privilege of co-leading Camp Connect, a TBRI®-based therapeutic camp in Orlando.

I am a Christian, and my faith is the foundation of my life. That being said, I welcome clients of any faith or religious background. We are all on a journey, and I would be honored to join you on yours.

If it sounds like I am a good fit for your needs, please reach out.

I would love to have a free phone consult with you.

With care and warmth,

-Bri :)
